Conspiracy Theory of the Day

Those of you who know me know that I am a HUGE conspiracy theorist. I don't know if I actually believe all of the conspiracies I think about and hear about, but it is fun to think and hear about them. My favorite is the idea that the government is implanting GPS tracking microchips in our children with every vaccination shot.

Well...the reason I am thinking about all of this is the sudden and timely reduction in gas prices one week prior a presidential election. Could a certain political party (who no doubt has some level of control in the production and pricing of our oil) be trying to ease citizens concerns about our faltering economy in hopes of gaining our vote??

Hmmm...just somethin' to think 'bout.

Channeling Pat Benatar

I was in Bug's room this morning getting her school clothes ready and trying to get her "up and at it." I told her that when I was young my mother used to wake us up by belting out the tune "Oh what a beautiful morning" at the top of her lungs (she did not like my rendition). She told me to sing something else. So I started singing the first song that was came to my head.

We belong to the light, we belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words we've both fallen under
Whatever we deny or embrace for worse or for better
We belong, we belong, we belong together

(
Of course...I did not get all the lyrics just right...but pretty close!)

I then started the 2nd verse and Bug finished it for me.

We belong....we belong....we belong...

"I belong in bed!"

(sung in tune at the top of her lungs!!)

"Miley is Spanish for Hannah Montana!"

HE HE HE HE HE :) :) :)

The kids went with their dad for the Fall break.
I guess they are living in Missoula now.
The kids look like they had a blast.
Here are some cute pics. :)

Hangin' at the airport.

Eating Chinese at the airport and calling ma.

Their first airplane ride! Look at Bud's knuckles! :)

Totally cool!

Fall Pumpkin Festival

They sure are cute!! But is anyone else wondering why they wore their
Halloween costumes and pajamas the entire time?

Battle Attack!!!

So Bud was playing "battle attack" with his guys today which involves every super hero and army dude he has...oh and Batman and Ironman too. They were everywhere in the living room...so I asked him to pick them up so we can get ready for bed. He then told me...

"I can't stop now mom...I won't know who wins!"

:) :) :) :) :) :)

Old McDonald Had A Farm....
(with lots and lots of poop and mice! EEK)

I went with Bug on her field trip today to a living farm. It was very neat to see how people lived in 1917. They really had a lot of work to do just to live meagerly. It gave me great happiness that I am not living back then....and that I have the warm house, cozy slippers, and this here high-speed internet connected computer to tell you all about it. :)

This is scary blacksmith dude who kept screaming at the kids. Did he loose his hearing from banging that darn anvil all day? He made a cup hanger out of a nail (like...dude...I could totally do that!).

Then the out buildings, which include the smoke house, cellar (OH HELL...down a long dark staircase - I about fainted), the bird coop - more poop, and then the actual out house - smells, smells, everywhere the smells...bluh!

(Going down the dark, dank steps of the cellar....)

(In the cellar with "Patch" - he had his
name legally changed to that - long story!)

(Side Note: This is the duck that thinks he's a chicken...literally. Someone moved the egg and it hatched in the chicken poop...
I mean...coop...and has been a chicken ever since.)

A lady learned us how to wash clothes by hand.
The kids worked the crank on the wringer dillie-bopper.

We saw a working kitchen with a functioning wood stove and ice box. Did you know they used to put the preemie babies in the bread warmer part of the stove to act as an incubator? They also used an old pickle jar. They would put the small baby in the jar with its blanket and set it down by the warm part of the stove all day. VERY interesting. They also gave us yummy applesauce cookies.

We sat in the house parlor and talked about how life was back then and learned about the candle sticks on the piano. They are called "courting candles" because when the candle wax ran out the gentleman caller went home. Father would choose long or short candles depending on if he liked the fella comin a courtin his daughter.

And then....the barn.

OH MY HECK. I've never seen so much poop and so many mice in my life. Bluh. Maybe if you added up all the stinky diapers I have changed...then maybe. For those of you who don't know me....my gag reflex is at best poor. I was breathing through my mouth the entire time which still grosses me out because then I imagine myself eating the horrible smells. Again...Bluh! And you should also know of my great dislike of small crawly squeaky things...a.k.a. mices!

But it was cool to see and learn about the animals and see my daughter milk a cow! That was SO fun.

The kids had a blast.
Next time I will see if grandma wants to do field trip duty! ;)

First Snow '08

The kiddos and I LOVE the snow. So we were pleasantly surprised when it dumped 7 inches on us last weekend! We cuddled up all weekend, drank hot cocoa, and watched movies! :)

Bug really wants to learn to ski. I can't wait to have enough money to go skiing with them every Winter! :) Until then...our backyard will have to suffice. Here are some pics.

Warm and cozy after the snow!!!

Just Rewards

The kiddos did their chores everyday this week
and for the reward they wanted.....

A tent and a Halloween movie!

Can it get any cheaper and easier than that?
They are easy to please. :)

Funny Clip

As I sit here and listen to Saturday morning cartoons blasting in the other room...I think back to my own childhood and the cartoons I enjoyed on Saturday mornings. My favorite....

THE SMURFS!

I really wish someone would reinvent this cartoon for today like they have reinvented so many others. I would even watch a full-length feature film about these small, yet oh so wise, people...um things.

One Christmas, my ever-dramatic and oh so sarcastic older sister decided she would immortalize our family as Smurf dolls or her gifts to us. She gave us Smurf dolls she thought represented our personalities.

My brother was Handy Smurf or Brainy Smurf (I can't remember which). My youngest sister was Baby Smurf...cause "she da baby." My just younger sister got to be Smurfette. And I got to be.....

VANITY SMURF????? What the? :)

Anyway...I was not deterred. I still love the show and will hopefully be able to pass the tradition on to my own kids.

If I were to Smurfize my own kiddos....Bug would be Smurfette, Scaredy Smurf or Painter Smurf. Bud would be Tuffy Smurf, Handy Smurf or King Smurf.
